Establish a Baseline BP Measurement

Establish a Baseline BP Measurement

Follow these 3 steps to get an accurate snapshot of your current blood pressure level.

It’s important to establish a baseline blood pressure (BP) measurement so that you and your Specialist can track your progress over time. Because BP fluctuates so much from day to day — and throughout the day — the most accurate baseline measurement is an average of multiple BP readings, taken across 2 or more days.

Please follow these 3 steps to establish a baseline BP:

1. Choose 2 days each month to check your BP. They can be any 2 days of your choosing.
2. On the days you have chosen, take 2 readings, waiting a couple of minutes between checks. Do not change position or remove the BP cuff between readings.

Example:

Monday
8:00am - Take 1st Reading
8:03am - Take 2nd Reading

Thursday
7:30pm - Take 1st Reading
7:35pm - Take 2nd Reading

3. Make sure each measurement is logged in your Omada tracker.
When to check your baseline BP:
  • Within the first 30 days of the Omada program.
  • Before an upcoming medical appointment.
  • After a medication or significant lifestyle change.
  • Repeat your baseline each month to see your progress over time.

As you continue to track, your Specialist may reach out to discuss your BP trends with you. If you would ever like to review your tracked values with your Specialist, please let your coach know and they can connect you. You can also share your BP values and weekly averages with your provider at your next visit.
